Everything You Need to Know About the ETM RTR Electric Dirt Bike

- @Voltron

If you have been watching the electric pit bike space, you have heard the name ETM RTR. We are an official Electro and Company dealer at The Watts Shop.

What Is the ETM RTR?

The ETM RTR is a line of electric dirt bikes built by Electro & Company (E&C). The platform was designed from the ground up as an electric bike - not a gas bike with a motor swapped in. That matters more than most people realize.

The RTR stands out because of three things:

  • Industry-leading components - E&C does not cut corners. The forks, brakes, battery system, and motor are all purpose-built for this platform.
  • Hot-swappable batteries - No tools required. Swap the battery in seconds and keep riding.
  • Upgrade-ready chassis - TruMoto mounts, removable subframe, adjustable pegs. The bike is built to grow with you.

The RTR Lineup: Which One Is Right for You?

ETM RTR Lite - $2,199

The most affordable entry into the RTR platform. Do not let the price fool you - this is not a beginner bike with a beginner build. It runs the same frame and geometry as the higher models, with a 5,000W peak motor and a 45+ mph top speed.

What Makes the RTR Different From the Competition

There are a lot of electric pit bikes on the market. So why does the ETM RTR keep coming up in every serious conversation about the segment?

The components are in a different class. Most budget electric pit bikes cut costs where you can't easily see it — cheap motors, generic controllers, no-name cells packed into a battery. The RTR uses Samsung cells in the XL and Alpha, Fardriver controllers (widely regarded as the best in the segment), and a motor and drivetrain built to handle the kind of riding that would destroy a lesser bike. These aren't marketing claims — they're the same parts you'd find in builds that cost twice as much.

Hot-swap batteries are a genuine game-changer. On most electric bikes, when the battery is dead, you're done. With the RTR, you swap the pack in seconds and keep riding. For families with multiple riders or anyone who wants a full day at the track without a multi-hour charge break, this is huge. It's a feature found on bikes costing significantly more.

The chassis is built to grow with you. The RTR wasn't designed to be replaced in two years. The frame geometry, suspension travel, and drivetrain clearances were spec'd with upgrades in mind. Kyle has personally installed a high-performance motor in his RTR (you can watch it on the Voltron Watts YouTube channel) — and the bike handled it without modification. That kind of flexibility is rare at this price point.

Real customer support. When you buy an RTR from The Watts Shop, you're not emailing a warehouse in a timezone twelve hours away. Kyle has ridden every bike he sells. He knows what breaks, what to upgrade first, and how to get the most out of your machine. That's a level of support you simply don't get from most online retailers selling electric bikes.

Common Questions We Get About the ETM RTR

What's the difference between the RTR Lite, Sport, XL, and Alpha? The Lite ($2,199) is the entry point — 5,000W, 60V 20Ah, 45+ mph with a free body kit. The Sport ($2,999) steps up to 8,000W, 72V 25Ah, and 55+ mph — the sweet spot for riders who want more power and range without going full XL. The XL ($3,799) is the big-wheel version with a 16,000W motor, 72V 35Ah Samsung pack, 65+ mph, and 30-60 mile range — Kyle's personal ride and the most popular option at The Watts Shop. The Alpha ($4,299) is the top-tier build: 18,000W, 92V+, full CNC components, aluminum wheels, and 70+ mph. No upgrades needed out of the box.

Is the ETM RTR street legal? No — the RTR is not street legal. It's built for off-road use: tracks, trails, private property, and designated riding areas. Always check your local laws before riding.

How long does the battery last? The RTR XL delivers 30-60 miles of range depending on terrain, rider weight, and how hard you're pushing it. For a real-world test, Kyle did a range test on his channel that gives you an honest look at what to expect in actual riding conditions.

Can I swap the battery myself? Yes — that's the whole point. The hot-swap battery system is designed to be user-friendly. No tools required. Pop one out, drop one in, and keep riding.

What if something breaks? The Watts Shop carries replacement parts and can help troubleshoot issues. Kyle is an active rider who has personally put serious miles on this platform — if something has gone wrong on an RTR, there's a good chance he's already dealt with it and knows the fix.

Why Buy Your ETM RTR From The Watts Shop

You can find electric pit bikes on a lot of websites. What you can't find everywhere is someone who actually rides them.

Kyle at The Watts Shop is a firefighter in Austin, TX and a genuine electric pit bike obsessive. He built his own RTR, documented the whole process on YouTube, stress-tested the platform in real riding conditions, and shares the unfiltered truth about what these bikes can and can't do. When you buy from The Watts Shop, you're buying from someone who has skin in the game — not a drop-shipper who's never touched the product.

What that means for you:

  • Honest advice before you buy. Kyle will tell you which model makes sense for your budget, your riding style, and your family — even if that means steering you toward a less expensive option.
  • Real support after the sale. Questions about setup, maintenance, upgrades, or troubleshooting? Reach out. You'll hear back from someone who knows the bike.
  • A community built around the sport. The Voltron Watts YouTube channel is an ongoing resource — ride reviews, upgrade guides, range tests, and honest takes on everything happening in the electric pit bike world.
